The Master's programme in Theoretical and Empirical Linguistics offers a diverse range of focus areas. The program covers a variety of topics including grammar theory, language comparison, multilingualism, language and cognition, and language in society. Students develop both theoretical and empirical knowledge within linguistics, encouraging exploration of personal interests through elective modules.
The Master’s program spans 4 semesters and allows students to tailor their learning through the 'Open Window Module'. It encourages practical experience and may include internships as part of the curriculum.
Graduates emerge with competencies in language analysis, research methods, and critical thinking. They gain skills in empirical research and are equipped to engage in multilingual and multicultural contexts.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
