The Master's Programme in Musicology at KUG offers a comprehensive approach to the study of music through three main subjects: Jazz and Popular Music Research, Ethnomusicology, and Historical Musicology. Students develop their skills based on personal interests and career goals, with a strong emphasis on social, cultural, and historical contexts. The program prepares graduates for various careers in research, cultural mediation, policy, and media, among others. It provides excellent support from faculty and various practical opportunities with nearby institutes for drama and music.
The Master of Musicology program focuses on key cultural fields of music through a scientific lens, exploring its role in various cultures across daily life, art, the market, and politics. It offers three main concentrations: Jazz and Popular Music Research, Ethnomusicology, and Historical Music Science, Music Aesthetics, and Gender Studies.
The program is structured to allow students to choose a primary focus and combine it with at least one other area. It emphasizes hands-on experience with close ties to music practices and a balanced approach between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Graduates will gain a comprehensive understanding of cultural, political, and market aspects of music, along with specialized skills in communication, research, and cultural management. This prepares them for diverse roles within the music sector and academia.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
