Im Bachelorstudium Byzantinistik und Neogräzistik erwerben die Studierenden Kenntnisse über die byzantinische bzw. griechische Kultur vom Ausgang der Antike bis zur Gegenwart. Die Absolvent*innen sind befähigt, mit dem Profil und den essentiellen Manifestationen des griechischen Kulturraumes umzugehen. Durch die einzigartige Bandbreite erwerben die Studierenden raum- und epochenübergreifende Kenntnisse. Das Studium umfasst den Erwerb von Sprachkompetenz im byzantinischen Griechisch und im Neugriechischen.
In the Bachelor program of Byzantinistik and Neogräzistik, students acquire knowledge about Byzantine and Greek culture from the end of antiquity to the present. The program focuses on the history, language, literature, and life-world of the Byzantine Empire and modern Greek culture, emphasizing critical analysis and cultural understanding.
The program is structured over 6 semesters and includes a foundational period of core subjects, such as Byzantine and modern Greek language and literature, followed by specialized seminars. Students conclude their studies with a Bachelor thesis written in a seminar context.
Graduates develop competencies for reflective engagement with Greek cultural phenomena and gain familiarity with scientific methods and critical inquiry. The program equips them with linguistic skills in Byzantine and modern Greek, along with interdisciplinary cultural knowledge.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
