The Bachelor program in Romanistik focuses on the linguistically and culturally diverse world of Romance-speaking regions in Europe and beyond. Students will choose one primary Romance language to achieve high proficiency and will also gain foundational knowledge in a second Romance language. In the Bachelor program of Romanistik, students explore the linguistically and culturally diverse world of European and non-European Romance languages. Key areas of study include linguistics, literature, media, and area studies, focusing on the cultural context of the chosen language and an additional Romance language.
The curriculum is organized over six semesters, requiring the completion of 180 ECTS credits, including two bachelor's theses and a Latin proficiency exam. The program begins with an introductory phase where foundational knowledge in language sciences and cultural studies is established.
Graduates develop strong linguistic competencies in their chosen Romance language, alongside basic knowledge in a second language. They acquire critical skills in intercultural communication, research methodologies, and media analysis applicable to various professional contexts.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
