Cross-Border Studies explores socio-political dynamics and cultural exchanges across borders. Students investigate issues like migration, international relations, and regional cooperation. In the Master of Cross-Border Studies, students explore an East or Southeast European language of their choice while deepening their understanding of a second language. The program encompasses the transcultural examination of Slavic languages, literatures, and cultures alongside German, English, or Italian, allowing for a broad perspective on cultural interactions.
This interdisciplinary program is organized over four semesters, requiring students to complete core modules, guided electives, an internship, and a master's thesis. The curriculum combines language studies with practical experiences and guided specializations tailored to individual interests.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
