The Software Engineering master’s program trains students in designing and developing robust software systems. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare graduates for dynamic roles in technology development and implementation.
The Master in Software Engineering focuses on developing competencies in the design and implementation of complex software systems, covering critical topics such as algorithms, software security, and automation. Students engage with both theoretical foundations and practical applications, preparing them to tackle significant software challenges in various domains.
The program is organized over four semesters, beginning with foundational coursework in software engineering and computer science. In the first three semesters, students can choose from a variety of elective modules that build upon these foundations, culminating in a master's thesis in the fourth semester.
Graduates acquire strong competencies in software design, critical thinking about societal impacts, and responsible engineering practices. They develop skills in managing complex software projects, applying advanced methodologies, and understanding interdisciplinary applications of software engineering.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
