Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The PhD program focuses on sustainability in production and consumption through interdisciplinary approaches. It aims to equip students with the technical and scientific skills needed for addressing material flow challenges and promoting sustainability practices. Graduates will engage in cutting-edge research relating to circular economy concepts.
Topics of study include the circular economy, resource optimization, and safety aspects in production systems. Students examine the implications of consumption patterns on sustainability.
The program is structured into modular courses followed by independent research. It requires a dissertation that demonstrates a substantial contribution to the field of study through original research.
Participants will develop competencies in sustainability science, critical analysis of production systems, and innovative solutions for contemporary environmental challenges.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
