Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The Doctoral Programme of Applied Medical Science (UN790) focuses on Epidemiology and integrates a combination of compulsory and elective courses. It aims to equip students with quantitative methods through lectures and practical seminars. The program encourages the development of research proposals, systematic feedback, and presentation of research at symposiums.
Participants study various epidemiological methods, research designs, and intervention strategies. The program covers both theoretical foundations and practical applications in public health.
The program lasts a minimum of six semesters, featuring coursework, thesis proposal development, and a cumulative dissertation based on three research papers. Students present their work at PhD symposiums and defend their thesis at a doctoral viva.
Graduates will acquire advanced skills in epidemiological research, critical analysis of health data, and presentation of findings. They will also develop competencies in project management and academic communication.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
