The Master's programme in Climate Change and Societal Transformation is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of climate change, its processes, and its impact on both natural and social systems. Students will explore sustainable and just solutions to address these critical challenges. The program integrates different perspectives and requires students to work collaboratively across disciplines.
The Master's programme in Climate Change and Societal Transformation focuses on understanding climate change through various lenses, including natural sciences and socio-ecological perspectives. Students explore topics such as climate dynamics, social impacts, climate strategies, and sustainable development goals.
The program is structured over four semesters, beginning with an onboarding phase covering foundational concepts, followed by a specialization phase where students can choose areas of focus. An integrative closing phase allows collaborative work across specializations, culminating in a thesis phase where students research problems aligned with their focus.
Graduates gain competencies in assessing sustainability strategies, understanding societal impacts of climate change, and applying qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze climate systems. The program prepares them to develop and implement climate change solutions and engage in knowledge transfer.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
