Master of Arts (MA)
The Master of Arts in Expanded Museum Studies addresses evolving practices within museums, galleries, and collection institutions. This program fosters critical engagement with contemporary issues in heritage, technology, and public participation. Students learn to develop innovative exhibition concepts and strategies for community involvement in art and culture.
In this program, you will explore a variety of artistic methodologies and theoretical frameworks that shape current artistic practices. The curriculum emphasizes visual culture, multimedia art forms, and contemporary art dialogues, preparing students to critically engage with their creative environments.
The degree program is structured over four semesters, with a focus on both theoretical and practical components. Students will undertake a final thesis project that encapsulates their learning, alongside opportunities for internships that provide real-world experience in the arts.
Graduates will develop strong analytical and creative skills, with a solid foundation in contemporary artistic practices. They will be equipped to respond to various cultural contexts and societal challenges through their work.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
