Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The interdisciplinary PhD programme 'One Health' at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna focuses on the crucial connections between animal health, human health, and environmental sustainability. This program aims to prepare international students for research in infectiology and comparative medicine, exploring diverse global challenges. Students will engage in both basic and applied research, learning from leading experts in the field.
Students will engage with topics in zoonotic diseases, comparative medicine, and advanced research methodologies. The curriculum includes both theoretical and practical components, as well as opportunities for fieldwork.
The program consists of core modules, elective courses, research projects, and a thesis defense. It is structured over 3.5 years with a focus on collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
