The Internship in Small Animal Medicine provides postgraduate training to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for independently assessing clinical cases. The internship covers essential topics in veterinary care, emphasizing small animal medicine and surgery. It includes clinical rotations, emergency care training, and direct patient interactions. Participants gain skills in internal medicine, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
The 12-month internship is divided into two semesters focusing on practical training within a clinical environment. Interns partake in case documentation, communication training, and seminars to enhance their professional development.
Graduates develop competencies in clinical assessment, patient management, and emergency response in veterinary settings. They gain a strong theoretical foundation and practical skills necessary for a successful career in veterinary medicine, particularly in small animal care.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
