EBVS-certified European Veterinary Specialist in Anaesthesia and Analgesia
The ECVAA Residency in Anesthesia and Analgesia is a specialized training program designed for postgraduate veterinarians aiming to become certified European Veterinary Specialists. This program offers rigorous clinical and theoretical training in veterinary anaesthesia, analgesia, and intensive care across various animal species, including small animals, horses, and exotics. Trainees complete their education through extensive hands-on experience, case management, and must pass a challenging state examination to obtain their certification.
The residency program encompasses a wide range of topics focusing on veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia, including pain management, critical care procedures, and advanced techniques in anaesthetic practice. Emphasis is placed on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through direct clinical experience with diverse animal species.
The residency consists of a structured four-year training program with defined phases focusing on both clinical practice and research. Trainees are required to manage a comprehensive case log, submit clinical case reports, and contribute to scholarly publications throughout their training. The program culminates in a centralized examination to obtain official recognition.
Graduates of the ECVAA Residency will have acquired deep knowledge and advanced skills in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia, enabling them to manage complex cases in a variety of clinical settings. They also gain experience in academic writing and research, preparing them for roles in both clinical practice and education.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
