The Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering offers an interdisciplinary approach, facilitating collaboration between scientists, engineers, and medical professionals to improve and innovate diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures. It is open to full-time employees at the Medical University of Vienna as well as students from public research institutions or corporate research facilities. Participants will engage in a wide range of fundamental and applied research in biomedical engineering, particularly focusing on diagnostic and therapeutic methods and devices for cardiovascular, neurological, and muscular stimulation, as well as imaging and radiological devices.
This program covers topics in diagnostic and therapeutic methods, medical device technology, and engineering principles in medicine. Graduates acquire in-depth knowledge of biomedical systems and tools.
The doctoral program spans 6 semesters, culminating in a doctoral thesis. Students are expected to engage in research projects, seminars, and collaborative work with various clinical departments.
Graduates will develop competencies in interdisciplinary research, critical thinking, and innovation within the healthcare technology sector. They will be equipped to tackle complex problems in biomedical engineering.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
