Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
This program focuses on the fundamental mechanisms of gene regulation across diverse organisms. Collaborating with a team of senior scientists, students engage in interdisciplinary research, supervised by experts in natural and medical sciences, to explore gene expression's role in growth and differentiation.
In this program, students explore advanced topics in Biomedical Sciences, focusing on areas such as molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience, and the immune system. The curriculum is designed to deepen understanding of the cellular mechanisms underlying diseases and the interplay between various biological systems.
The program is structured over several semesters, culminating in a doctoral thesis. Students engage in both coursework and research phases, which often include internships to gain practical experience in leading laboratories.
Graduates acquire comprehensive skills in biomedical research methodology, critical thinking, and specialized knowledge in their field of study. They also develop competencies in scientific communication and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
