The PhD program focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders, particularly multiple system atrophy (MSA). It encompasses advanced methodologies including behavioral testing and biochemical analyses. Students will be involved in both research activities and teaching assistance, providing a comprehensive view of the academic landscape and potential career paths in neuroscience.
The program focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, with particular emphasis on α-synucleinopathies such as Parkinson’s disease and Multiple System Atrophy. Topics include biomarker discovery, the role of glial cells, neuroinflammatory mechanisms, and the impact of environmental stressors and epigenetic factors.
The program is structured around various research phases, culminating in a thesis that encompasses practical and theoretical knowledge gained through laboratory work and internships. Students engage in preclinical screening and target validation to support clinical trial preparations.
Graduates develop competencies in molecular biology techniques, neurobiology, and research methodologies relevant to neurodegenerative diseases. They gain skills in experimental design, data analysis, and critical thinking necessary for advanced research in neurobiology.

Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.

Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
