The Art Education program prepares students for teaching art in primary and secondary schools. The curriculum combines practical art-making experiences with pedagogical theory, ensuring educators are well-equipped to inspire creativity in future generations.
The program focuses on the intertwining of artistic, educational, and theoretical practices, emphasizing contemporary art, design, and pedagogy. Students explore critical discourses around teaching art and design, and the ways in which these fields interact with social changes.
The degree consists of a three-year Bachelor's program followed by a two-year Master's program, organized around two teaching subjects. Each phase encompasses practical studies alongside theoretical foundations, including a thesis in the Master's phase.
Graduates acquire interdisciplinary competencies in visual arts, design, and educational theory, as well as practical teaching skills. They become adept at cultural mediation and are prepared for roles in educational and artistic fields.

The level of legalisation your certificates need depends on your country of origin:
Apostille
If your country is part of the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille from the competent authority of the issuing country is sufficient.
No legalisation
A small number of countries have a bilateral agreement with Austria and need no further legalisation.
Full diplomatic legalisation
For all other countries: the full chain — pre-certification by the issuing country's authorities (e.g. Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs), then legalisation by the competent Austrian representation (embassy/consulate).
Translations are usually done after legalisation. Check the required order with the issuing authorities and the Austrian representation.
