You've arrived. A handful of administrative steps in the first weeks will save you a lot of friction later.

Register your address (Meldezettel) within 3 days of moving in
Activate or arrange health insurance
Open an Austrian bank account
Get a local SIM / mobile plan
Pick up your residence permit card if collected locally
Get your student ID and set up university accounts

The Meldezettel deadline is real

You must register your residential address (Anmeldung) within three days of moving in. Your landlord or dorm usually helps with the form.
